Fiji, April 7, 2024: In a landmark move towards modernization, the sugar industry has embarked on a transformative journey with the introduction of an advanced Growers Management System (GMS). Championed by the Ministry of Sugar Industry, this pioneering initiative aims to revolutionize the support system for cane farmers and their families, heralding a new era of empowerment and efficiency.
Minister Charan Jeath Singh hailed the launch of the GMS as a watershed moment for the industry. He underscored its significance as the first standalone database exclusively dedicated to sugarcane farmers, marking a pivotal shift towards digitalization in an industry steeped in tradition.
During the unveiling ceremony, Minister Singh expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of the United Nations towards the sugar sector. He emphasized the indispensable role of the GMS in capturing and harnessing vital farmer data, thereby facilitating streamlined management and informed decision-making.

This innovative collaboration seeks to mitigate labor shortages by leveraging the expertise of foreign workers from Bangladesh, particularly during peak harvesting seasons.
