After encountering a login error while accessing their Commonwealth Bank online account, a customer has issued a cautionary message, urging others to refresh their passwords for added security.
The incident occurred on Monday around 11:30 PM when the customer attempted to log in via both the bank’s website and app, only to be met with denied access. Expressing concern, they disclosed that neither their password nor their pin worked, highlighting that these credentials had remained unchanged since the account’s establishment in 2018.

Fortunately, an hour later, the customer managed to regain access without any unauthorized transactions. However, the experience prompted them to advocate for fellow users to update their passwords and pins, a measure they had procrastinated for years.
Fearful of potential hacking, the customer took immediate action, including temporarily locking their card and reducing the withdrawal limit to $100. Reflecting on the ordeal, they emphasized the significance of their hard-earned money, underscoring the absence of a financial safety net.
Seeking advice on cyber security via social media, the customer’s post elicited responses encouraging them to report the incident to the bank’s 24/7 helpline and consider maintaining a backup account. Others shared similar experiences of login issues, while a spokesperson from Commonwealth Bank clarified that no internal issues were reported on the night of the incident.
Although unable to address the specific case without further details, Commonwealth Bank advocates for online safety, recommending measures such as two-factor authentication and avoiding password reuse across multiple accounts.
