Common Questions About Competitor Intelligence
What is the Competitor Intelligence Finder?
It's a free tool that compares your website with up to three competitors across traffic rank, domain age, SEO foundations, content footprint, marketing technology, keywords and social presence — then shows exactly where they are ahead of you and what to do about it.
Where does the data come from?
Everything is measured live from public sources at the moment you run the analysis: each homepage, its robots.txt and XML sitemaps, the Tranco top-sites research list for global traffic rank, RDAP domain registration records, the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine, and public DNS records. Nothing is guessed or made up.
How is this different from Similarweb or Ahrefs?
Similarweb and Ahrefs are paid platforms with proprietary traffic panels and backlink indexes. This tool answers the same core competitive questions — who gets more traffic, who publishes more content, who invests in ads and automation, and which topics you are missing — using free public data, with a clear action plan instead of raw dashboards.
Does it show exact monthly visitor numbers?
No. Exact visit counts are only available to the site owner (for example in Google Analytics). We show each site's global popularity rank, which is a reliable relative measure for comparing competitors. Sites outside the top one million are shown as "Not in top 1M".
Why does a competitor show "blocked automated checks"?
Some websites use firewalls that refuse automated requests. When that happens we still measure everything we can from public records (rank, age, sitemaps, DNS) and scale that site's score over the points we could measure, so it isn't unfairly penalised.
Is it free? What do I get in the full report?
Yes — running the comparison and viewing the results is completely free. The full PDF report is also free: it adds every gap we found with a prioritised action plan, the complete keyword-gap list, check-by-check scoring for every site and full tech-stack breakdowns. We just ask where to email it.
